Burleson Bible Church History
Burleson Bible Church was organized in 1986 when Charlie Bing called together those in the Burleson area that were seeking a new Bible teaching ministry. The Church met first at local public schools until the spring of 1991 when the Church purchased a small building on one acre on Johnson Avenue. Money was later raised for remodeling and the addition of a detached classroom building which housed four classrooms. Eventually a second classroom building was leased. The property on Johnson Avenue was sold in May, 1999. The Church purchased land on Hurst Road east of Interstate 35W, has built their first facility, and now plans to expand.
Dr. Charlie Bing served as senior pastor from the church's inception in 1986 until 2005 when he felt God calling him to work full-time for the parachurch organization, GraceLife Ministries. Upon the occasion of Charlie's resignation, the church spent an exciting and vibrant six-months under the leadership of interim pastor, Dr. Neil Ashcraft, formerly of Scofield Memorial Bible Church in Dallas. In March 2006, Dave Wolf became the second senior pastor of the Church. He served as pastor until November 2007. The Church currently has a pastor of worship and administration, part time youth pastor, and administrative assistant. The history of Burleson Bible Church shows steady growth without ever experiencing a church split. Those who become a part of the Church tend to be highly committed and stay for a long time. The Church offers a wide variety of ministries to men, women, teens, and children. Ten missionary families or ministry organizations are supported on a monthly basis.
The Church is an independent non-denominational Bible Church. It was incorporated in 1986 as a nonprofit corporation in accordance with the laws of the state of Texas. The management of the Church, as a corporate entity, is under the control of the official Church Board. The Board is composed of elders (including the pastor) and deacons who are elected for life-time and two-year terms respectively. All major transactions are authorized by vote of the membership.
